Yuka is a community leader with a passion for food. Originally from Japan, she is a long time resident of the Bow Valley. Yuka has a strong background in food, having run a catering business and taught cooking classes. She is working to build a diverse food movement within the Bow Valley through a purpose built commercial kitchen to support and promote local food production.

Outside of the kitchen, Yuka is a proud mom, wife, and an avid hiker and skier. She is a lover of a steaming cup of English Breakfast tea.

Ed is Yuka’s life partner of 25 years, and now her business partner through The Co+Kitchen. He’s passionate about locally produced food, The Co+Kitchen and all its members. When Ed is not working to advance the local food movement in the Bow Valley, you can find him working to advance Canada’s energy transition. He does this through Whit & Ham, his boutique consultancy that supports the development of clean energy projects for a range of clean tech clients, and through the Energy vs Climate podcast, Canada’s most popular podcast on climate/energy. Ed is the former executive director of the Pembina Institute, a national clean energy think tank with staff and offices across Canada. Like Yuka he’s a proud parent to their two kids and enjoys all sorts of outdoor activities.
